Director/Therapist
Hi, I’m Ashley, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in anxiety therapy and depression. I started Wellview Counseling to help people who are feeling overwhelmed in their life. Life can be challenging, and we have all had times when we needed extra support and encouragement. You may be worrying a lot more than usual. Maybe you’ve noticed that you’ve been feeling down and not like yourself. You could be experiencing changes in your life that are causing you to doubt yourself. Whatever has brought you here, you are brave for taking the first steps towards healing.
Education
I received my Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. Following college, I pursued opportunities to work in the mental health field and found my real passion. I earned my Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree with a focus on Children and Family Studies from Barry University. Since then, I have completed advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based approach to anxiety therapy and depression counseling.
Counseling Experience
My approach to counseling is both strengths-based and solutions focused. I believe each person has strengths and abilities to solve problems themselves with the right tools and supports. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including therapeutic residential care, schools and alternative educational programs, inpatient behavioral health care, nonprofit community outreach, and private practice. Over the course of 20 years, I have provided individual, group, and family counseling to children, teens, and adults. I have led psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, as well as Positive Discipline workshops for parents and caregivers.
Specialties
Currently, my focus is helping college students, parents, and adults with struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, and life transitions. I use a variety of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solutions Focused Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Areas of concern I treat include Social Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Specific Phobias, Panic Disorder and panic attacks, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, postpartum anxiety, depression and OCD, and other mood disorders.
I particularly enjoy supporting parents in various stages of the family life cycle. Pregnant and new parents struggling with postpartum anxiety, depression, and life changes are personally important to me, as I have navigated those challenges myself. I am also a Positive Discipline Parent Educator and provide both customized parent coaching and workshops to help parents.
Working with women across the lifespan is also a special privilege, and I provide support for women coping with life challenges, including separation and divorce, health concerns, grief and loss, and other life changes.
Interests
In my down time, I like spending time with my family and friends. Cooking, traveling, and trying new experiences are important to me. You can also find me on the sidelines cheering on my favorite soccer teams or on the tennis court trying not to injure myself.
