Therapist
I have always been drawn to helping others, and I sincerely believe counseling offers a supportive and unique experience to work through many types of challenges. My goal is to help children, adolescents, and adults face their current challenges and find healthy solutions. I have experience working with a variety of clients and clinical challenges such as children’s behavioral problems, social skills, self-esteem, life changes/transitions, anxiety/stress management and trauma. Through a client-centered approach, I recognize and highlight client’s personal strengths to build confidence and foster personal growth. I also help clients explore how their thoughts are affecting their feelings and emotions to develop greater awareness.
I especially enjoy helping children and adolescents learn new skills and develop confidence in themselves. To meet younger children’s needs, I offer play therapy as a child-friendly, creative approach, and I am on way to becoming a certified play therapist. Because supporting families is essential to helping children, I work with the family system, as well as the individual, to help clients achieve their goals. I believe it is important to meet people where they are, and it is my aspiration to help clients feel empowered and cared for during the counseling process.
Another area I am passionate about is helping individuals and families cope with chronic health concerns. Whether it is adjusting to a new diagnosis or a flare-up of symptoms, physical health concerns affect mental health. Learning how to take care of your health mentally, while not feeling well physically, can be a daunting challenge. I work to provide understanding and hope for those struggling with the obstacles that accompany chronic illness.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor under supervision by Dr. Johanna White, Ed.D., LPC, RPT-S, CPCS. I am also a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Therapist (CATP) as well as a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator.
