Child and Teen Therapist
Helping teens feel more confident, connected and equipped to handle life’s challenges.
Sarah Schulman, LCSW, is a teen therapist in Roswell, Georgia, who also works with children ages 5 and older. She has a particular passion for supporting tweens and teenagers.
Sarah understands that childhood and adolescence can bring a unique mix of pressures. School stress, friendships and social pressures can leave children and teens feeling anxious, overwhelmed or less confident. For high-achieving teens, these challenges may also show up as perfectionism, self-doubt or pressure to succeed.
Through a warm, collaborative and creative approach, Sarah helps children and teens feel comfortable being themselves. She supports clients in understanding their emotions, building confidence and developing practical coping skills. Along the way, they learn healthier ways to manage anxiety, stress and big emotions while strengthening resilience and self-esteem.
Sarah especially enjoys working with anxious children and teens, high-achieving adolescents, and teens navigating challenges with mood, friendships, self-esteem, organization or emotional regulation. She also supports children and teens experiencing grief, loss and difficult life transitions.
Sarah’s Approach
Sarah tailors therapy to the needs of each child or teen and may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play therapy and expressive arts. For younger children, creative and play-based approaches offer a natural way to communicate and process emotions. With teens, Sarah combines supportive conversation with practical strategies they can use at school, at home and in relationships.
Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama and her Master of Social Work from the University of Denver. Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including in-home services, schools and partial hospitalization programs, providing crisis intervention, group therapy and family counseling. When she isn’t working, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, walking her dog Penny, traveling, and reading.
